About 50 km northwest of Funchal lays Soa Jorge, a typical country village formed by houses scattered over green hills, on terraces, right down to the clear waters of the Atlantic. Wet in winter, the slopes of Soa Jorge keep their lush green which contrasts with the colorful fruit trees, the corn fields, the sweet potatoes and the citrus trees. In the summer, there are the traditional regional festivities, where the traditional 'espetada em pau de louro' and the regions wines are always desirable.
